Food for Thought

Sir Ken Robinson's Changing Education Paradigms is a thought provoking piece that should be seen by educators and parents.   The map of prescriptions for ADHD is particularly fascinating.

Getting College and Career Ready in Elementary School

How do you get elementary school students college and career ready?  Students and families need to understand the road map to higher education and careers.  Through exploration and setting high expectations students CAN achieve their goals.  On the elementary level there are a number of age appropriate activities students can engage in to get them thinking about college and/or their future careers.
Elementary College and Career Activities
  • Career Day
  • College T-Shirt Day for Staff and Students
  • Bulletin Board Displays with Academic Vocabulary
  • Classrooms and/or Groups Named after Colleges/Universities

This is a flyer I created for our upcoming Staff College Spirit Day.

Inspiring Words

I'm in the mood for a little inspiration.  I enjoy "collecting" quotes, proverbs, idioms and humorous sayings.  What is your favorite quote?

We've Come A Long Way Baby!

This 1923 contract was posted on Ohio Education Association’s Facebook page.  It outlines all the guidelines a female teacher must follow to keep her job.  I'm sure I've broken every single rule at one time or another.  How about you?

March Currently

Hello March!  I'm linking up with Farley over at Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for the March Currently. Here's what I'm up to...

Listening:  This Woman's Work is one of my all time favorites.  The original by Kate Bush and this version by Maxwell are both awesome!

Loving:  I hoping to learn a few new strategies as a TpT seller.  I bought a membership with The Best of Teacher Entrepreneurs Marketing Cooperative.  The product has really great reviews.

Thinking:   Spring CANNOT get here fast enough.  I'm done with the snow.

Wanting:  Our snow blower broke and the repair shop picked it up two weeks ago.  When they returned it, it would not go in reverse!  Now it's back in the shop.  Thank goodness my kind neighbor took care of the plowing this evening.

Needing:  I'm not prepared for the week because I avoided going shopping today due to the snow.

Spring Break Plans:  I started a website but I was unsure of what my niche would be.  I have discovered that I love to collect/PIN/share free resources.  During the break I'm going to revamp the website.
